Episode 4 - 'Challenge of the Samurai'

[Flashback to the previous episodes]

Ash: That's right, I declare to the Pokémon of the world I will be the greatest Pokémon trainer, the greatest Pokémon master of all time!

Narrator: As his adventures began, Ash our hero from pallet, chose Pikachu, a Pokémon who wasn't too thrilled with its new trainer. A flock of angry Spearows nearly finished them off, but the injured Pikachu saved the day with its Thundershock power.

Ash: Pikachu are you alright?

Narrator: Pikachu regained its health at the Pokémon centre in Viridian City which soon found itself under attack.

Ash: What are, who are they?

Narrator: They are Jessie and James of the notorious Team Rocket, who, with Meowth, attacked the centre hoping to steal some rare Pokémon. But their sinister plans were thwarted by Ash and Pikachu who next journeyed into Viridian Forest where Ash made his first catch.

Ash: Yes I did it! I got Caterpie!

Narrator: Next, he caught Pidgeoto.

Ash: Yes! We got Pidgeoto!

Narrator: And even more surprises were to come.

Ash: Caterpie, this is so great!

Narrator: Caterpie evolved into Metapod.

Ash: And now...

Misty [screaming]: Ahh!

Ash: What's wrong now?

Misty: I think I see another bug, Gross!

Ash: Maybe it's a... [puts on a cow custom] ...Cowterpie.

Misty: That's not funny. You know I hate bugs and I saw one right over there!

Ash: [looks to where Misty has indicated] A Weedle!

Dexter: Weedle. The stinger on this Pokemon's head guarantees that any attacker will get the point right where it hurts.

Ash: A stinger huh? Now there's a challenge...

Misty: Why are you so excited about a bug with a stinger? Make it go away!

Ash: You got to be kidding. You can't possibly expect a great Pokémon trainer like me to let a Weedle escape. I'm gonna catch it. [takes out a pokéball and, just as he is about to throw it, stops] Oh! Oh yeah, I almost forgot you have to weaken a Pokémon before you catch it. Let's go, Pikachu!

Pikachu: [in a sleeping bag, pretending to be asleep] Pikachu.

Ash: Taking a nap huh? Okay, snooze you lose. There's still Pidgeoto and Metapod to do the job, and they give me the respect I deserve.

Misty: You deserve to have your head examined. [Misty notices that the Weedle is at her foot] Ahh! Don't just stand there catch it!

[Misty runs off]

Ash: Have no fear Ash is here! Pidgeoto I choose you! Pidgeoto gust attack! That's the way to do it!

[Misty is walking through the forest away from Ash]

Misty: This whole forest is crawling with slimy, disgusting Pokémon. I wish they'd all just bug off!

?: Hi-Ya!

[Misty comes nose to tip with a sword, and screams]

Greetings, o' shrieking maiden. Are you by chance the Pokémon trainer who comes from Pallet?

Misty: No that's not me.

[Ash is still trying to capture the Weedle when the mysterious boy with the
sword attacks him, bring Ash's nose point-to-point with the sword. Ash and the boy,
named Samurai, begin there battle, Metapod VS. Metapod.  However, the battle lasts
much longer than expected, and Misty begins to get incredibly bored]

Misty: We're going to be stuck in this forest for the rest of our lives. Boys can be so stubborn.

[Ash and the Samurai fall over exhausted by their battle]

Ash: Don't give up!

Misty: You two are more hard headed than your Metapods. [hears a noise] Huh? What's that noise?

Samurai: A beedrill swarm approaches. Our match must end. Metapod, return!

Ash: Beedrill swarm!

Dexter: Beedrill. This Pokémon is an evolved form of Weedle following its Kakuna stage. It's sting is highly poisonous.

Samurai: The Weedle that got away from you has informed the rest of its kind. Good day.

[A Beedrill swoops down and picks up Ash's Metapod]

Ash: [Ash raises his pokéball] Metapod return now! [the Beedrill dodges the beams and gets away] Oh no, it got away!

Pikachu: Pikachu! [tries to shock the group of Beedrill, but shocks Ash and Misty accidentally]

Misty: Come on lets move it!

[Misty grabs Ash and they start running away from the Beedrill swarm]

Ash: But Metapod?

Who's That Pokémon? It's Metapod!

[Ash, Misty, Samurai, and Pikachu run from the Beedrill swarm]

Misty: They're gaining on us!

[They hide behind a bush, but then realize they're surrounded by Kakunas]

Samurai: A whole hive of Kakunas!

Dexter: Kakuna a transitional stage between Weedle and Beedrill. Kakunas remain inactive until they evolve into deadly Beedrill and hatch.

Ash: [sees Metapod amongst the other Pokémon] Hey over there, it's Metapod!

Misty: Keep your voice down!

[The Kakunas begin to hatch into Beedrills]

Misty: Beedrills. They've evolved!

[They all start off running again until they see a log cabin]

Samurai: Log cabin! I think we can make it!

[They get to the cabin and close the door just in time.  The Beedrills crash into
and damage part of the cabin, and then stick around outside]

Ash: Whew. That was close.

Samurai: I hope you've learned your lesson, Novice. Your letting that Weedle escape almost cost us our lives.

Ash: Take back that novice crack!

Samurai: I do take it back! Because not even a novice would abandon his own Pokémon as you did!

Ash: I tried to save Metapod.

Samurai: Your Metapod will pay for its trainers inexperience. The other trainers from Pallet would never have been so irresponsible.

Ash: Other trainers from Pallet? Have you fought Pokémon matches against Gary and the others?

Samurai: Ah! There were three spectacular matches, each more challenging than the last. Those trainers really knew how to raise Pokémon. Even though I was defeated all three times, I was inspired to redouble my own training. I have been eagerly preparing for that day when finally I would defeat the next Pokémon trainer from Pallet.

Misty: So that's why you've been waiting around here for Ash to show up.

Samurai: Compared to those other three novice here is a joke!

[That night, Ash is the only one awake]

Ash: Metapod.

[The next morning, Ash leaves early to look for Metapod]

Meowth: [jumps onto of Ash] You know what Meowth's favourite game is?

Ash: Get off!

Meowth: Scratch and sniffle [attacks Ash].

James: Guess who?

Jessie: Prepare for trouble!

James: And make it double!

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.

James: To unite all peoples within our nation.

Ash: No not again. Not now!

Jessie: Never interrupt the Team Rocket Motto!

Ash: But the Beedriils...!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James: To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Ash: Keep it down before you wake up the Beedrills!

[Unfortunately, the already have, but Team Rocket don't seem to notice]

Jessie: Team Rocket! Blasts off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth! That's right!

Jessie: Little boy, why don't you give us your Pikachu. There's no use trying to resist us, so be smart and hand over the Pokémon.

Ash: I don't have Pikachu with me and even if I did I'd never let you take it!

[Ash takes off, heading towards the Beedrill]

Team Rocket: Come back here!

Ash: [to himself] If I make it past the Beedrills maybe they'll dive-bomb Team Rocket.

[Ash passes the Beedrill swarm]

Jessie: [noticing the approaching Beedrill] The tank will surely come in handy now.

James: It was worth the struggle dragging it here.

[James lifts up the tank to discover several Weedle eating it]

Meowth: Ahh! They're eating the tank!

James: Well, we made it from paper to reduce the weight.

Jessie: Who knew?

Meowth: Numbskulls!

[They quickly run away]

Ash: [finding Metapod] So there you are! [takes out a pokéball] Here, into the pokéball Metapod.

Metapod: [refuses to go in] Metapod, Metapod.

Ash: Metapod? [hears the Beedrills approaching] Let's go!

[Ash picks up Metapod and begins running away]

Ash: I didn't abandon you Metapod.  I just got side-tracked. It was all Samurai's fault [he trips, and realizes something] No. It wasn't Samurai's fault. It was my fault. If I was a better Pokémon trainer I'd stop making all these excuses. From now on I swear I'll never run away and leave my friends behind again. No more excuses.

[A Beedrill comes near]

Misty: Ash!

Samurai: Watch out for the twin Needle Attack!

[Metapod leaps out in front of Ash, taking the Beedrills attack for him, opening a
scratch in it's shell.  One of the Beedrill's needles comes off, and it flies away]

Ash: Metapod! Are you hurt! Are you OK Metapod?

[Light comes from the scratch in Metapod's shell, and it evolves into a Butterfree]

Ash: Butterfree!

Misty: Oh, It's so beautiful!

Dexter: Butterfree. One week after Caterpie evolves into Metapod, it again evolves into Butterfree.

[The Beedrills approach again]

Misty: Here come the other Beedrills.

Ash: Butterfree? Yeah. Butterfree knock them out with your Sleep Powder!

[Butterfree spreads Sleep Powder over the Beedrills, rendering them unconscious]

Ash: Yay! You put all them to sleep. Butterfree you're the best! Hooray!

Samurai: You were able to handle your Butterfree so well just after it evolved. Most impressive.

[Later]

Samurai: This trail will lead you to Pewter City.

Ash: That's great. But before we leave you Samurai, we still have to finish our match.

Samurai: Compared to you, my friend, I am the novice. But I will keep perfecting my technique, and one day we will meet again.

Ash: I'm sure it will be a most spectacular match.

Samurai: That is guaranteed.

Misty: Just promise not to match Metapod VS. Metapod again.

Pikachu: Pika chu.

Ash: Until then Samurai!

Misty: See ya!

Pikachu: Pikachu

Samurai: Farewell!

Narrator: With Team Rocket thwarted for now, Ash and his friends leave the Viridian Forest and set their sites on Pewter City.

[Jessie, James and Meowth are dressed up as Kakunas,
hanging in a tree full of Kakunas and Beedrills]

James: Do you have any more bright ideas?

Jessie: Well unlike you at least I have ideas!

Meowth: Yeah, and they're all bad.

Jessie: Who asked you?

[The Beedrill wake up]

Team Rocket: Uh oh... Oww! Oww!
