Synopsis
Ash, Misty and Brock bring their Pokémon to a holiday resort.
After Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Psyduck are able to calm
down a crying Togepi, they met a group of Pokémon who they
do not get on with.
Pikachu tries to stop the two groups from fighting, but the others
do not listen and begin to challenge each other to contest.
However, when the Raichu of the other group shocks Pikachu, he becomes
enraged and the two race each other.
During this race, they tread over Charizard's tail, angering the
fire-type. He playfully taunts the Pokémon, but, not
looking where he is going, he crashes into a playground and gets
his head stuck in a pipe. His friends try to pull him out
with a rope, but they are not strong enough. Pikachu begs
the other group of Pokémon to help him, and they all agree,
apart from Cubone. However, after watching everyone work together,
this lonely Pokémon joins in as well, and they are able to
pull Charizard out.
Everyone then works together to rebuild the playground Charizard
accidentally destroyed, and they all play together.
After enjoying a beautiful sunset, Ash,'s Misty's and Brock's
Pokémon all return to their trainers.
Movie Info
'Pikachu's
Winter Vacation' is the Pikachu Project '98 featurette, and lasts
approx. 20 minutes.
This featurette is very light-hearted, very cute, and was chiefly
made for Pokémon fans under the age of ten. It has
a fun and simplistic story line, concentrating on what happens when
Ash's, Misty's and Brock's are left alone in a theme park designed
only for Pokémon, while their trainers are in the human equivalent.
The group run into another group of Pokémon and challenge
them to a series of test to see who are the better Pokémon.
Also Pikachu has been left to baby-sit little Togepi, and as you
can guess, Togepi gets Pikachu into all sorts of trouble.
There is very little dialogue in the featurette, Dexter (the Pokedex)
does some voice-overs, telling us about some of the types of Pokémon,
including some of the newly discovered forms, and the main three
human characters are only in it at the beginning and the end.
It plays quite similar to an old Tom & Jerry cartoon, with
a lot of slap stick humour that will appeal to all ages. The
featurette is also designed to keep the attention of younger fans
before the much more adult and serious main feature, 'Mewtwo Strikes
Back', begins.
