'Pokémon Shipwreck' - when Gyarados' Dragon
Rage attack sends all of the characters flying, you can here Meowth's
Japanese voice screaming, "Yana Kanji!", the Japanese equivalent
of "We're blasting off again!" (although it actually means "This
is bad!").
'Mystery at the Lighthouse' - On the doors to Bill's
lighthouse is a picture of Mewtwo. How could this be possible
when only Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, Jessie, James and Meowth know
about his existence when Giovanni's memory was wiped ('Mewtwo Returns')
and Mewtwo killed the scientists who created him ('Mewtwo Strikes
Back').
'Beauty and the Beach' - When Squirtle and Starmie
pretend to be a UFO, Brock calls Starmie 'Staryu'.
'The Ghost of Maiden's Peak' - just before Dexter
says 'Still searching', you can hear Meowth's Japanese voice.
'The Tower of Terror' - when Team Rocket all fall
through the floors of the tower, a balloon appears next to his mouth,
saying 'Nyaa!' Under it is the letter 'N' next to the symbol for
'Ya'.
'The Flame-Pokemon-athon' - When Ash and Ponyta
are blown away by Electrode's explosion, Squirtle says "Zeni, zeni"
in his Japanese voice instead of 'Squirtle' (his Japanese name is
'Zenigame').
'Ditto's Mysterious Mansion' - Team Rocket says
that Dratini is 'the Pokémon we've never been able to capture'.
However, western viewers did not understand this joke as the episode
it refers to, 'The Legend of Dratini', was banned outside of Asia.
'Princess vs Princess' - You may wonder where Togepi
was during that episode. They originally made this episode
before Togepi was introduced, but didn't show it in the order it
was made as they planned to show this episode on 'Girls' Day' in
Japan, meaning that it was first shown after 'Who Gets to Keep Togepi?'.
'Case of the K-9 Capers' - Jessie speaks using
Ash's voice before turning the dial on the voice-changer to
his picture.
'The Ultimate Test' - Jessie eyes are green at
one point in the episode, not their normal blue (maybe she's wearing
coloured contacts. Team Rocket does like to go into disguise).
'Volcanic Panic' - Misty calls for Starmie, but
Staryu comes out.
'It's Mr.Mimie Time' - The title is 'It's Mr. Mimie
Time', but Ash says 'Mr. Mime Time'.
'Lights, Camera, Quaktion' - Cleevon Spielbunk
was the 'Winner of the Golden Growlithe at last year's Flea Collar
Film Festival', but the statue he was given is of an Arcanine.
'Go West, Young Meowth' - Meowsy's owner's limousine
license plate is '052-NYA' (52 is Meowth's number, and Meowth's
Japanese name is Nyarth).
'The Mandarin Island Miss Match' - In the Anime
she's Prima, but in the game she's Lorelei. What's her correct
name?
'Lapras of Luxury' - When Ash, Misty and Brock
runs into Ash's old Lapras, Brock says, 'So this is the Lapras we
used to know.' However, Brock never meet Lapras as he was living
on Valencia Island when Ash was it's trainer.
'Mewtwo Strikes Back' - A lot of people get mixed
up between Pokémon in the first movie. A trainer says his
Pidgeot is a Pidgeotto, Jessie and James call a Scyther an Alakazam,
and Meowth says Sandslash is a Sandshrew.
'Pokémon 2000' - In 'Pikachu's Rescue Adventure',
a Poliwhirl says "Poliwrath".
'Pokémon 2000' - In 'The Power of One',
when Ash and co. meet the locals of Shamouti Island, only Ash is
introduced, but Melody says, "Oh, and Misty, try not to get jealous,"
when she shouldn't know her name. Also, Professor Ivy's skirt changes
colours three times while she is in the helicopter.
'Pokémon 3' - In 'Pikachu and Pichu', a
Voltorb says "Electrode".
'Meowth's Party' - They aired the English version
once, and then, the following week, aired the original Japanese
version.
The Rice Ball Conundrum - In 'Here Comes the Squirtle
Squad' & 'Primape Goes Bananas' they are donuts, in 'Snubble
Snobbery' they are popcorn balls. But in 'Pokémon Paparazzi'
they are called by the more correct name of 'rice balls' (they are
actually Onigiri). Can the English writers not just call them
rice balls? That's what they look like.
Topps Pokémon Trading Cards - the quote
for Weezing is - 'James once remarked that his toxic Pokémon,
"smells like old sneakers soaked in stinkbug juice, mixed with some
rotten eggs and a dead fish with just a touch of skunk fumes!"'
James, however, said this about Erika's Gloom in 'Pokémon
Scent-sation'.
Novels - Tracey West, the writer of the American
novels doesn't seem to know what colour Jessie's eyes are.
One minute they are grey, then purple, then they are green.
One the Pokémon macaroni and cheese shapes there are pictures
of Pokémon on the back of the box that you are to cut out,
with their names under them. However, where there is a picture
of a Sentret, it said 'Otachi', the Pokémon's Japanese name.
