Character Profile
Generally Pikachu is playful, happy little creature who has formed
close relationships with fellow Pokémon and humans alike.
But make sure you do not anger it, or else you will be in for quite
a violent shock (a thunder shock to be precise).
It is fiercely
loyal to Ash. In the first episode, Pikachu did not get on with
it's trainer, Ash. It constantly shocked Ash, disobeyed his
orders and laughed at him when he tried to capture Pokémon
on his own. It wasn't until Ash caught the attention of a
flock of angered Sperows (Ash angered them by throwing a rock a
hitting one square on the head) that Pikachu began to respect and
trust Ash. Ash, trying to draw attention away from an injured
Pikachu, stood as a target for the Sperows and vowed that someday
he would beat them all. Pikachu, realizing that Ash was risking
his life to save it, used it's last ounce of strength to fight off
the Sperows with an electric attack. When this thunder shock was
let off, Pikachu was hit by a lightning bolt form the sky. This
may explain why it is so powerful.
Because of
it's unusual power, the criminal organisation Team Rocket has sent
three of it's agents to capture it; Jessie, James and Meowth. However,
after many years Pikachu has easily been able to defeat these three.
Misty had an easier time with Pikachu than Ash. It used
to shock most strangers who picked it up, but with Misty, it just
allowed her pet it without nay worries. Also, in 'The
Waterflowers of Cerulean City', Pikachu refused to fight her
in a gym match and at one point, seemed to forget who's side it
was on and cheered for Misty instead of Ash.
Pikachu
is almost like an uncle to Misty's baby Pokémon, Togepi.
It always looks out for it when it gets itself into trouble, often
without the humans realizing. It also seems to be the leader of
Ash's Pokémon ('Island of the Giant Pokémon').
Pikachu currently has no wish to evolve into it's final form, Raichu.
It was once given this option, but declined the offer as it wished
to prove that Pikachus didn't need to evolve to be powerful ('Electric
Shock Showdown').
Character Info
Sometimes in the English dub of the show, when they cannot seperate
Ikue Ootani's voice from other pieces of spoken Japanese dialogue,
Veronica Talyor fills in for the electric mouse.
