Manga Information

'Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyou' (shortened to 'Kare Kano') began life as a Shoujo (girls) manga in 1996.

By young manga-ka Masami Tsuda, it first appeared in the February issue of Hakusensha's monthly LaLa magazine, and was later compiled into graphic novel (tankoubon) form in the' Hana to Yume' Comics line.

In Japan, there are currently 13 volumes of the graphic novels.

In 2003, 'Tokyopop' began publishing the English version of the manga, in 100% authentic Manga (right-to-left) format. Since then, it has repeated the success it has enjoyed in Japan in the west, and is considered a must for all Shoujo fans.

In 1998, it was turned into a 26 episode anime series. The anime is comprised of only the first eight graphic novels, so to see the full story, the manga is a must.
