  • Responsible for designing new websites, promotional material, logo design, brochure design for clients
  • As this is a freelancing position, it has meant having had to work under own guidance with no supervision
  • Currently designing a new CO-NET website homepage, as well as one for their partner, City Office.

Belfast Institute

DATE: Sept - Dec 2005
POSITION: Video Production Officer (temporary basis)

  • Producing promotional videos for the Institute as well as for external clients
  • Taken in on short notice to finish the production of the Centenary video. As this project was already started, had to use iMedia100 with no previous experience, as well as Final Cut Pro 5. Despite this, was able to finish the video well within the deadline. The video has been used extensively as promotional material for the Institute and has even been shown on the local TV news
  • Involved in meeting and discussing projects with clients
  • Filming special events using a number of different cameras
  • Recording voice-overs in a sound booth, and editing the results

Century Newspapers, Belfast

DATE: May 2003-August 2004
POSITION: Web Publisher

  • Year long University placement
  • Tasks included daily updates, using a custom CMS, of the Newsletter, Derry Journal and Farming Life websites, both in regards to graphics and news articles, along with creating graphics for advertising features (both in-house and client based) and helping with website maintenance
  • Appointed head of the Library department in February 2004. Tasks included searching through and maintaining both paper and digital archives, along with dealing with customers on a daily basis over both the phone and personally
  • Helped with redesign of the sites when the company changed hands, as well as learning how to use a new CMS system
  • Responsible for adding phpBB forums into the new version of the websites
  • After the head of the New Media department left in March 2004, placed in control of site maintenance (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP) and advertising (phpAdsNew)
