His works are a combination of European, American and Japanese comic art forms, making his work purely unique, with a captivating franetic energy.

Several of his works have been published in English, from his most famous work in the west, Tekkonkinkreet: Black & White (which has been adapted into an anime movie), to the recently released Go Go Monster. His works Ping Pong and Aoi Haru (Blue Spring) have been made into live-action features.
