According to animeOnline, when asked at the New York ComicCon 2007 if they were pursuing the Ouran anime for a North American market, Viz (who own the rights to the manga) let slip that another company has already acquired the series.
Ouran High School Host Club was undoubtly one of my favourite series of last year, so I’ve been anxious for it to be licensed. Fingers crossed that this news proves true and we have an official announcement from which ever company soon. It will surely be a major success for the anime market outside of Japan after it’s immense popularity on the fansub circuit and legions of established fans. I’ll be one of the first looking looking to replace my downloaded files.
In other news, Tokyopop will start producing CLAMP no Kiseki once again this summer, this time at the reduced price of US$19.99 and without the cardboard boxes they previously retailed with. I only have two of the issues, Cardcaptor Sakura and Tokyo Babylon, but I’ll be confident in trying to get the rest of the releases now I don’t have to worry so much about both cost and the amount of space the art books will take up.
